Thought for the Day: International Women’s Day Regression

Last week was crazy, what with International Women’s Day and everything. It was as though everyone had stepped back three years into the past, and started assuming gender again.

Isn’t that part of the argument put forward recently (in an interesting alliance between a Christian woman and a feminist): allowing transgender men to access all areas because they feel like it actually obliterates the category of “women and girls”. Thus females become “invisible” and have no “voice”. Any concessions or assistance that feminists have been working for over the last few decades becomes null and void.

So far, other feminists seem to have been a bit slow on the uptake of this reality.

    • Hi Karen,
I read the latter article and had to pour myself a large Scotch afterwards.

Gender convolutions are becoming more and more bizarre.
The comment section was more entertaining than the article itself !!
I have great trouble following the mental gymnastics people go through, with this torment about gender. Mentally exhausting.

Sorry about that, old bean. I have to admit I didn’t read the whole article you refer to (the overland-dot-org link) as it was boring drivel. Didn’t even get to the comments section. Perhaps I should have: I’m partial to single malt myself and can’t remember the last time I indulged 🙂

I’ve edited my comment to include the feministcurrent link which had interesting comments about the dominance (my word) of the sex industry and of men calling themselves women at so-called women’s events.

Insightful but lost to sight: they speak for women but not for women who aren’t pro-abortion. They speak for women who have suffered violence, including sexual violence, from the hands of men, but they do not speak for women who are able to live with that reality and the reality of other men being loving, self sacrificing, honest, and trustworthy.

“Convolutions” is an excellent description! Trying to build mental health on a foundation of mental illness is always going to require “jerry built” props. [Cue the racism fanatics :-)))))) ]

    You should never assume gender.

Always grab ’em by the pussy, just to make sure.
