Mark Latham, the former federal leader of the Australian Labor Party, has put his support behind Donald Trump’s bid for the White House. While Latham’s notoriety in Australian politics has been characterised as “utterly unstable”, such portrayal has been made of Donald J. Trump also.
However, over the last 9 months or so I’ve become a bit of a fan of Latham’s commentary. Whether he’s taking swings at our former vomit-inducing “Australian of the Year” Rosie Batty or ripping into the highest ranking transgender ADF official Malcolm McGregor (aka Catherine McGregor) Latham has pulled some much welcome punches.
Even his outburst at the Melbourne Writer’s Festival in August last year and his slamming of Labor’s “obsession” with same-sex marriage has hit a home run with myself (and many others in my network).
Hence why I consider Latham’s endorsement of Donald Trump to be totally consistent with the fight against political correctness.
Food for thought.
