The Real Reason Australian Wages are NOT Growing

2

Sally the Socialist is running around telling everyone wages aren’t rising due to business greed, but is this actually true?

Wages have indeed stagnated but there are two very good reasons for that and it has nothing to do with free-market capitalism.

Matty’s Modern Life explores this economic issue with his usual in depth research and fun presentation.

Here’s a hint, one of the reasons is Matty’s and David’s favourite XYZ Live topic (check it out Monday’s starting about 9:30PM).

Doesn’t it strike you as strange that we automatically expect wages to grow? Indeed, in a history of the 20th century written 4 decades ago, an author commented that one of the features of our time was that people expected their standard of living to continually rise, without doing anything about it. This, of course, is a direct result of the industrial revolution. But no other century made that assumption, and perhaps we should not be so blasé about it

It’s a real catch-22 situation…. As Malcolm Smith commented, people expect their wages to grow – and I think this is in relation to the constant growth of everything else in society that costs – driven by government who push the whole increase-in-cost-of-living increases (gas, fuel, water, rates, etc etc etc etc) and then say that those things that they are increasing the prices on are excluded from the CPI calculations and therefore cannot be used to adjust wages accordingly – or rather, YOUR wages accordingly. THEIR wages are adjusted accordingly and then some….

Maybe thing would be different if government were to actually be responsible with taxpayer monies and stopped wasting it on horse-shit projects so that it can give the appearance that they’re actually doing something when they’re not (and then running out of other-peoples money whereby they want more to meet the basics that they are obliged to provide in the first place).

As for unions, I am a firm and life-long member of the FTU… FUCK THE UNIONS!!!
Unions are manned by career bludgers who seek to feather their own nests before looking after anyone else and exist as nothing more than a launchpad into politics where their corruption can achieve professional standards when an MP in the ALP or the Greens.
