Sonia Kruger, Andrew Bolt and the need for a debate

In the last week, we have seen the “outrage industry” also known as the mainstream media and the regressive left, attack both Sonia Kruger and Andrew Bolt for going against the grain and speaking the truth regarding radical Islam and Islamic immigration. This week in the Herald Sun, Andrew Bolt wrote an article which demonstrated a direct correlation between how big a nation’s Islamic immigrant population is and the amount of terror attacks the country has suffered. Despite using credible statistics and showing a direct positive relation between the two variables, his article was condemned in the media yet again using emotional arguments, rather argument based of fact and statistics.

In her attempt to defend Andrew Bolt’s article on the Today Show, Sonia Kruger went one step further, stating that she felt “unsafe” with the current level of Islamic immigration and instead called for a full ban on Islamic immigration. What followed her comments was a true demonstration of how vile the media and the left can be when one of their own speaks out. Both her co-hosts Lisa Wilkinson and David Campbell were quick to condemn her comments, meanwhile social commentators such as Meshel Laurie and Charlie Pickering both referred to Kruger as “stupid”. Many on the internet sought to call Sonia despicable names such as “slut” and “bitch” and threats were even made to against her life and her family. As usual the ABC, a public broadcaster, attacked those who shared the same view as Kruger, characterizing them as ‘xenophobes and bigots’ and refused to condemn these vile comments against Kruger.

5328822016_ee3fb3220f_BurkaThe truth is simple: Sonia Kruger and Andrew Bolt have done nothing wrong, they have used their god-given right of freedom of speech to state their opinion. While many disagree with the solution Sonia Kruger has presented, many in the wider community agree with the premise of her argument, which is that we need to have a rational and adult discussion about immigration, and in regards to which kind of immigrants we want to let in to our great nation. We must not ignore the terrorist attacks in Europe and America that have taken place this year, we must not ignore the fact that most of these terrorists are homegrown, and we must not ignore the issue with the Islamic community we have back at home.

This election, two million Australian voters abandoned the big two political parties and voted for conservative and far-right parties such as One Nation. Unlike what the left would like you to think, most of these two million Australians are not bigots and racists, but they are simply scared and shaken by the recent spate of Islamic terrorist attacks. These people want an adult discussion about immigration without the usual chants of “xenophobe” and “racist” thrown around by the regressive left. The big two parties mustn’t shy away from the issue, and I encourage the Turnbull government and the new Minister for Immigration, Zed Seselja, to push for a Royal Commission with regards to our immigration policy, or to at least have a debate in parliament in which all sides of the argument can be heard.

No longer will those who share concerns about Islamic immigration be shut down and silenced by the left. As more and more Australians become inherently skeptical about our current immigration policy, the greater the fightback will be towards the vile abuse dispersed by the left and the inaction of the political class. Let Sonia Kruger’s and Andrew Bolt’s statements be the beginning of a discussion that this nation has needed for a very long time and that will lead to a solution that best protects and enhances our great nation.
